About Me
My name is Spencer Lee.
I have a bachelor’s in Broadcast Communications and a minor in film studies from Western Carolina University.
I first got into broadcasting/video production back in high school when I join the Yearbook Club my senior year. When I joined Yearbook, I was put in charge of taking care of the cameras and creating what my school called the "End of The Year Program" with some fellow members. The End of The Year Program was a giant, over-an-hour-long slideshow with videos and photos that summarized the school year. Being able to work with editing software such as Premiere Pro and After Effects and getting to work with cameras made me fall in love with the field.
Since then, I went to college at Western Carolina University and joined the National Broadcast Society chapter, where I continue to gain more skills behind the camera and within a control room. I am also the communication officer for WHEE-TV, formally known as NBS. I have also helped on several film sets as a grip, gaffer, BTS photographer, and First Assistant Director. Working on these sets has helped opened my eyes to the possibility of what I can do for my career.
After graduating college, I’ve been working at Amerilife Inc., a life insurance company, where I help produce, shoot, and edit videos for the in-house production team. We are a small team so we all get the opportunity to work on all aspects of video production.
Creating videos and taking photos are extremely important to me. It’s that act of capturing a memory, a moment that excites me. Knowing that what I work on will most likely outlive me drives me to be the best I can be. I want to leave an impact on this world before my time is up and for me, I want to do that with videos and photos. I want to one day inspire someone to take their own leap into this field, just like Steven Spielberg, Wes Anderson, and Christopher Nolan inspired me to get into this field.
