Film & Film Sets
While at college, I was involved in several student films and even created a short film for my film studies class. Below is that short film and the other films I have been involved with.
Who?
“Who?” is a short film that I worked on in college for my film studies class in the fall semester of 2021. Within our film studies class, we were placed into groups and assigned to create a short film with a topic of our choice. I was placed into a group with Phillip Angle, Kyle Jackowski, Tristan Roth, and Emily Roach. This short film is about a nameless student who is being followed around by a mysterious entity. For my role, I helped write the story, starred in the film as the antagonist, helped to create music, and helped edit the film.
We shot the majority of the film on my Canon 80D camera and the planning of the shoot lasted about three months. We edited the film together in Adobe Premiere Pro. My role in the editing process was mainly as an observer and helped give suggestions to Phillip as he edited. When working on the short film, I was early in my stages as a content creator. Working on this was a fairly new experience for me.
Films
While in college, I was involved in several film sets. While on these sets, I was a grip, gaffer, BTS photographer, and soon-to-be first assistant driector. The role I primarily took on was as a BTS photographer. As a BTS photographer, I took photos of everyone while they worked on the set. It could have been the director of photography working on the camera, the actors practicing their lines, the makeup artists working on the actors, etc. When I was a grip or gaffer, I learned to properly set up lights and ensure a properly lit shot. While I didn’t get to interact with the cameras being used for the film personally, I was able to closely observe the director, first AD, and director of photography. I got to see what the proper protocols were when putting a lens on the camera, how the shot is properly framed, how equipment is assembled, etc. I gained a lot of friendships through these film sets whether it be with an actor or the cinematographer. I gained a lot of experience from working on these film sets and I am confident I can transfer this knowledge to my career. Below are a few photos I’ve taken while being a BTS photographer.
